External Connection of a Photovoltaic Station

The issue of externally connecting a solar station to electrical grids is just as critically important as the construction of the station itself! The Unisolar project office of our company has developed a quality standard for connecting PV stations with a voltage class of 10kV, which meets European standards!

In our projects, we use the highest quality transformer from the leading Ukrainian manufacturer, type – TMG with increased voltage on the high side due to the increased number of winding turns. This solution is specially designed for photovoltaics and is successfully applied by us in Ukraine, Moldova, and Lithuania!

Depending on the tasks, we use three types of transformer designs: standard losses, ECO1, and the most energy-efficient – ECO2 – with minimal no-load losses.

Additionally, the panels in our package transformer substations (PTS) are only galvanized, with a thickness of 1.5 mm or more, without internal corridors, using sealed cells, compartments, and boards. This, on the one hand, minimizes unnecessary costs and, on the other, allows us to equip the PTS with automation, vacuum circuit breakers, relay protection, telemechanics, and metering units as reliably and ergonomically as possible. Automation is provided by leading global manufacturers such as EATON, ETI, Schneider, and similar brands.

The connection point of the PV station, especially with a voltage class of 10kV, is a key node of the station because the failure of this node will lead to the complete shutdown of the entire PV station, resulting in the loss of clean earnings from solar energy. Saving on automation, transformers, or the quality of the transformer substation is unacceptable!
